Responsibilities:
Alter clothing without compromising the original look of the garment both inside and out
Mark alterations and take measurements in fittings
Ensure that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order and report any problems to management
Fill out work orders and tag garments
Sew projects according to the client's specifications and preferences.
Advise clients on alterations such as bustling
Clean up the office at the end of the day and as needed to ensure a safe working environment.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

To be successful as a seamstress at St. Clare's Closet, you will need sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques including bridal alterations. Candidates must be competent in using both domestic and industrial sewing equipment. Ultimately, an outstanding seamstress should be able to achieve exceptional customer service and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Proven sewing experience
Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques
Ability to work within time constraints
Ability to safely and proficiently use various types of sewing machines
Effective communication skills

Willingness to learn new techniques and to perform alterations according to our standards
